Multi-Vendor Sale Results - 2017
North East Merino Breeders Group: Benalla 15th August
This was the final year that Stefan Spiker scanned the rams for the All Purpose Section at Benalla. He has been there since the inception and we will miss you Stef! All 60 rams were weighed and scanned and then in the running for the All Purpose Champion Ram and the Champion Wool Ram. It is very pleasing to announce that the Toland Poll Merino won both of these sashes with the same ram! 161069 was the ram to beat. He weighed in at 98kg and measured 7.5 for fat and 39 for eye muscle depth. He is a well structured ram and had the wool to match the carcase! He was bought by L and S Kubeil of Violet Town for $3,250 in the sale.
We are very encouraged by the sale results this year and hope the trend continues for our last sale which will be on the 25th of September (3 weeks away today!).
Sheepvention: Hamilton 8th August
This year we took Charlie to the sale for the first time in 10 years! He was there as a baby but got to experience the full Sheepvention thrills this year as a 10 year old! He wanted to check out all of the tractors and machinery and taste the jam donuts and hot chocolates. I think his favourite thing though was to take to the selling stand with Pop and Simon as they sold each pen of rams! He was proud as punch and looked enthralled. See the latest news for more photos of Charlie and a rundown of what has been happening here lately!

The 10 rams sold well at Hamilton with the top price going for $2,500 and an average of $2,000 achieved. It was a great couple of days down at Hamilton and Charlie is looking forward to returning next year!

Pen 2 waiting to be tied up and sold!
Bendigo - Sunday 16th July
It is always great to start the ram selling season at Bendigo and this year is no exception! All four rams sold to a top of $9,000 and averaged $4,187. I was absolutely thrilled that all four sold so well as it proves that people are chasing that Fat and Muscle which we have injected into the stud! All the hard work is paying off perhaps. Lot 58 - 161033 sold for $2,000 to the Edwards family from Euroa. Lot 59 - 161100 had great ASBVs for growth and Eye Muscle and he sold for $9,000 and went to the Petali Poll Merino Stud up at Walcha, NSW. They also bagged Lot 61 for $2,000 (161297). Lot 60 went to the Edwards family up at Euroa for $3,750.
Thank you for the ongoing support and we wish those underbidders success at the next multi-vendor sales!
Simon holding lot 59 (161100) which sold to the Oppenheimer family at Walcha, NSW for $9,000.
2016 On Property Poll Merino and Poll Dorset Sale
Well what a success both ram sales were!! 91 of 94 Poll Merinos and Merinos sold to a top of $4,500 and averaged $200 more than last year (this years average was a healthy $1,842). The demand for the Poll Dorsets was so strong leading up to the sale that we increased the number from 30 in the Helmsman auction to 62 at about 5pm the Friday night before the sale. We were delighted that 60 of these sold to a top of $1,150 and averaged $823. Thank you to all of those new and existing clients for supporting us!

28th On Property Ram Sale - Monday 28th Sept 2015,
Stay tuned for results....

Phil, Georgina and Anna Toland with Shaun Young of Yass, NSW with the top priced ram ($3,200).
A POLL Merino ram that sold for $3200 topped Toland Merino’s 28th ram sale at Violet Town on Monday. Article by Andrew Miller from Stock and Land
95/100, to $3200, av $1642.
CONFIDENCE in the wool market has continued to drive sales, with another near total auction clearance of stud rams at the Toland’s Feltrim stud, at Violet Town.
Auctioneers sold 95 of the 100 Polled and Horned Merinos under the hammer, but private treaties accounted for the rest of the rams on offer.
Landmark Melbourne stud stock auctioneer Andrew Sloane said it was a very solid sale, with a lot of volume buyers snapping up rams.
“It’s a bit dry around here and it was probably a better sale than perhaps the season looks,” Mr Sloane said.
“Buyers are pretty confident, the confidence is there, the livestock prices are up – they have to buy their seedstock and are putting their hands up, and buying them.”
Yeumburra, Yass, NSW property manager Sean Young, bought the sale-topper for $3200.
“I bought it mainly for its bright wool, long stapling and dual purpose figures, it will suit our country, pretty well,” Mr Young said.
The ram had figures of a fibre diameter (FD) of 16.5, standard deviation (SD) of 3.4, co-efficient of variation (CV) of 20.8, comfort factor (CF) of 99.8 and was rated an Elite score of 43,
Mr Young said Violet Town had a similar climate and rainfall to Yass, so the rams suited the property there.
He said he had been coming to the Feltrim sale for about a decade.
Feltrim stud principal Phil Toland said he was pleased with the sale, which reflected last year’s result.
“We concentrate on polls, that’s where the demand is,” Mr Toland said.
“Fleece weight, growth rate and reproduction, are the key drivers for profitability that’s what we concentrate on.”
